Our group used a unique capability of the X-ray magnetic circular dichroism technique to determine the magnetic orbital moment component of Vanadium ions in the layered van der Waals system VI₃. We have revealed an exceptionally sizable orbital moment of V³⁺ ion resolving the long debate on this issue.

New bachelor study program at Charles University to provide a modern multidisciplinary bachelor program Science educating students in math, physics, chemistry and biology in English with fixed curriculum for the first two years and completely flexible study plans for the final third year.

The results of Petr Král, Ph.D. student at the Department of Condensed Matter Physics, obtained within the MGML infrastructure were presented at the International Conference on Solid Compounds of Transition Elements 2022 held in Bordeaux, France. Petr was awarded a Best Poster prize for the communication entitled “Pressure effect on R₂Cu₂In intermetallics”.

The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting took place on June 7^th and 8^th 2022. After the covid period of online meetings, the SAC members were able to visit our infrastructure in person.
