Typical applications
This state-of-the-art cryomagnet is used mainly for measurements connected with magnetism and superconductivity. It has an 18.5 T superconducting coils with a large inner diameter of 7.5 cm. This allows the insertion of an additional 1 T booster resulting in the final maximum field of 19.5 T. Together with the dilution unit (coming soon) is this cryostat ideal for studying quantum oscillations.
Available methods
All measurements done in 20T cryomagnet are driven via our own fork open source instrument control software NICOS. It allows various standard measurement techniques but also highly customizable user setups. Connection to the sample platform is done via 24 wires standard cable and via 2 shielded cables for measurement of electric capacity. Samples are usually mounted on quantum design pucks, but also custom installations (like pressure cells) are also possible.
Sample environment
Core cryostat consists of a large superconducting coil allowing vertical magnetic field up to ±18.5 T with inner bore diameter of 7.5 cm. Inside core coil is possible to insert either booster coils ±1 T, or gradient coils for measurement of magnetization, both inserts have the inner bore of 5 cm. Temperature is regulated either by standard VTI insert down to 1.5 K or with cryopump controlled 3He insert allowing temperatures down to 0.28 K in one-shot mode (up to 20 hours).
